Area Management Project, Tanzania

A main factor that contributes towards successful community-based conservation is proper governance and management. This is why The HoneyGuide Foundation actively mentor leaders and administrators in crucial Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) and communities and implement accountability and monitoring systems.

For these wildlife management areas, the bottom line is the bottom line. Without improved capacities of WMA managers and administrators to both increase revenue and financial accountability, WMAs simply will not be sustainable and wildlife and communities will lose out. That is why HoneyGuide works to arm such leaders with the tools they need to become more successful, including a mobile app for revenue tracking, a financial toolkit, and an extensive training and mentoring curriculum.

Your donations will ultimately help improve these practices and make it easier to educate and empower communities and governments to work together to benefit these areas.

Our Philosophy

Asilia operates in some of the most spectacular wild places in Africa.  Yet they are fragile, under immense pressure, where the needs of both people and wildlife are often juxtaposed.

Empowering both people and places is essential if the habitats, upon which we all depend, are to survive.

We’ve selected a number of reputable and effective local partners as the drivers of these interventions.   These partners tackle the issues of education, community upliftment and wildlife conservation in meaningful ways, getting to the source of the problems rather than treating the symptoms.
